I know, this question sounds quite strange, but I don't seem to find any email-address, where I could send this.
Ich chose this category because the Raspberry Pi runs Linux and there is no PMS-Raspberry Pi category.
I read, that PMS won't come to the Raspberry Pi because transcoding isn't fast enough. That's reasonable. But what, if everything would already be transcoded for the players, so it just needs to stream?
My Parents are big fans of "Dallas" and they would watch it on our FireTV. No one else in our family would watch it. It could be transcoded for the FireTV and then just store the file on an external drive, attached to the Pi. It would be practical, if you have an option to tell the Pi, which media should be transcoded to what, so it can store the new file. It could do this during the night, where nobody needs a movie streamed.
I would like to use a Raspberry Pi because it doesn't need a lot of energy. I don't want to run a PC day and night, but with the Pi, it would be ok.
The downside to this is obviously, that you need a lot of storage, compared to a PMS on another platform, but in the end, I think a lot of people would use it.
When there is a better category for this or if I have missed the right place to contact the Plex-Team, please leave a comment.
When someone knows better than me, please explain, why my idea wouldn't work.
