Ubuntu 14 dedicated box - Remote access not working

Hello

I recently installed Plex on a leased dedicated server and am having a bear of a time getting the server to connect to the internet. This is my first time setting up outside of my local network, so please forgive the references to a local LAN as I describe.

I have been able to login to the management page with localhost:8888 ssh tunnel trick, so I've overcome that issue, but when I get into the interface, it tells gives me the 'Unclaimed server' error. I try to claim it, but the wheel just spins for a second, then comes back to the Unclaimed Server error. When I check under the 'Remote Access' section, the public and private IP & port are identical, the green arrow between them are there, but the red X to the internet shows and it will not connect. I have tried adjusting the port manually, that didn't work. The best way I can describe the behavior is as if there were a router blocking the port mapping, however this is a public IP on a dedicated server at a remote provider.

I have confirmed port 32400 is reachable from the public internet, so all is well there. The update checker works. I was able to create a library, and other services are working on the box. In addition, I have deleted preferences.xml and tried setting it up again to see if that would cure the problem, but it hasn't.

What have I missed? Please be gentle - My Linux-fu is crap.

Thanks for looking.
