Another bandwidth (upload) question

Hi all,

I am currently running a Plex media server which I'm sharing with my family and a couple of friends. My current device runs in a Data Center in a 5U rack, due to that I previously was very limited in what I can get of upload speeds (I am from germany, internet is crap here). I have 1gb of upload so i had no worries so far.

Now I'm looking to move to a new place with a huge cellar where I believe I could toss the device into. However at the moment all I can find is 20Mb up but how many streams will this be enough for on 720/1080p? Of course now I don't have to account for my gf and I as we are on the same LAN, but I wonder if my family or friends will have issues? My library mostly consists of blu-rays so most of it is 1080p.

I did a test and it from time to time boosted on over 40Mbps so already now I'm concerned that 20mbps won't be enough - not even for a single person. Would you guys have any inputs on this?
