So ive been running a linux plex server for a couple of years now with the clients mainly on Amazon Fire sticks. As of late they are starting to show errors, they say server not powerful enough, not enough bandwidth. Both may be true, so i threw some more horsepower at it, upgraded from a dual core 2.9 to a quad core 3.1. This improved things but still get occassional issue, and this is with already encoding them to MP4 using recomended settings.
So my next guess is the transcoding, would it benefit from moving the temp folder from the main drive (ssd) to a separate say USB3 thumbdrive to keep the speed or is USB to laggy?
Anyone got any other ideas on how i can improve the thing.
Running Linux mint 17.2, Quad Core Intel I5, 8gb ram, 128gb ssd and 32gb ssd for swap. Transcoding set to auto.
