So, I've got about 20,000+ family photos.. I use Plex to browse these from all of our devices.. But no thumbnails ever get updated, or they get updated incorrectly. And, when trying to run an "Analyze" on the library, it never finishes. Please advise. First, here is my info.
My server: Ubuntu 14.04.2 LTS 3.16.0-33-generic #44~14.04.1-Ubuntu SMP Fri Mar 13 10:33:29 UTC 2015 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
Plex Version: 0.9.11.17 (PlexPass version)
Mobile device: iPhone 6 Plus - iOS 8.2
Plex mobile version: 3.5.3
- The thumbnails within an album on iOS are incorrect. A thumbnail from a single photo get used for multiple photos, even though the file is correct & completely different.
- The album covers on iOS don't get generated at all, and sometimes a cover WILL get randomly generated, but just one or two, and the size is incorrect on the screen & looks off.
- On Plex Web, random thumbnails are just completely missing from the new photos, even though you can click on the file and view it in full. Sometimes - when I click a photo to view it in full, a thumbnail gets created, others - nothing happens. It's completely random.
- Reinstalling the Plex media server from scratch fixes the issue initially, but the next time photos get added, the issue happens again, so it doesn't address the ongoing issue as it's not feasible to completely reinstall the server each time I add a photo.
- Reinstalling iOS app has on effect at all on that side.
- Updating the library does find the new files and add them, but no thumbnails are generated. As noted above, I can go into the web interface and click photos and some will have thumbnails generated after doing so, but others don't. And it's completely random. After an uninstall/reinstall of the server the same photos that had a thumbnail generated when clicking on them aren't the ones that do so after the reinstall.
- Running a "Forced Refresh" has no effect at all on generating thumbnails, even though it completes successfully.
- Running an "Analyze" never seems to finish. It works in alphanumerical order, so starts at oldest year and moves forward. Each time "Analyze" runs, it gets so far and just stops. It doesn't stop at the same place each time - it's just completely random. It could stop 1/10 of the way through, 1/8 of the way through, 1/4 of the way through, etc. It's just random. And example output of "Plex Media Scanner.log" is below. It will fly through files & just get to a random place & stop. And it's different each time:
