I've been using Plex for a few years, and recently added "PlexPy" to see what is happening when other users are streaming.
What I see is that movie # 1 is transcoding, with 43% played, with 60% buffered, while Movie #2 starts and immediately buffers during the initial load (expected), however, once the movie starts, it is at 0%, and 2% buffered and pauses, awaiting more buffering. Eventually after several starts and stops for buffering, the buffer builds up and the movie plays smoothly, typically with a 6% buffer throughout.
So the question is...how can I optimize Transcoding so that a movie wouldn't start to play until the buffer was sufficient?, and secondly, how to ensure that transcoding is not using 100% CPU during the transcoding process, as even though movie #1 has a sufficient buffer, it will still pause and stutter while movie #2 buffers up.
thanks...
