So, recently I lost 3 media drives (3TB each) that had to be replaced. Media recovered, added to new drives. Decided to take the time to upgrade OS to Ubuntu 16.04 LTS from 14.04 LTS while I had downtime.
Ever since upgrading my server keeps bouncing back and forth from "Media Available" to "Media Unavailable".
90% failure rate on the Playstation 4 Plex app.
30% failure rate watching via web (both local and remote viewing)
30% failure rate via Xbox 360 app
I really don't want to take the time to downgrade back to Ubuntu 14.04 LTS since it is happening there too. I installed 14.04 to another machine I had laying around and put Plex on it and I get the same thing, just slightly less failure rates.
All media is there. No drive failures, All files accessible via Samba and play perfectly via VLC
I should also point out that this has only been happening since the last Plex Pass update. *** Other than on the Playstation 4 ** I've found the Playstation 4 app to be horrendous since I first installed it and it is not getting any better either. It needs a serious overhaul.
It's not a space issue -- There's over 30TB of drives and the OS drive itself is HUGE!
It's not a drive letter issue for 2 reasons: 1. Linux doesn't suffer the same problem. 2. This is happening on both internal and external drives: not just external
Further; my drives are EXTREMELY organized in terms of file storage. This makes this issue even weirder as on some occasions it will play a file from the same drive as a file it says is unavailable (Example. It will play an episode from season 3 of a tv show, but says an episode is unavailable when I try from season 4, 5, or 6.) but 4,5,6 are easily accessible and playable via smb with vlc. Come back to plex the next day and season 3 doesn't work but 4,5,6 do and yet again season 3 is accessible via smb and vlc....
Furthermore making it weird;
I will load up the Playstation 4 Plex app and get media unavailable but 10 seconds later load it up via Xbox 360 or browser and get Media Available and vice-versa in all directions
Any help or suggestions/thoughts please and thanks ??
