SELinux policy module for Plex

Just started using Plex and noticed the issues Plex Media Server was having with SELinux in Enforcing mode (mostly related to using the system rsync binary).

I decided to write a policy module to as an attempt to confine Plex processes and have them work properly in SELinux Enforcing mode. The module defines several booleans that can be used for tuning the policy.

Please note that I've only tested the policy with my own use of Plex and have not tested all features. The policy was written and tested on CentOS 6.5

Plex buffering on some movies

I have installed the latest PMS version 0.9.16.3.1840-cece46d and some of the movies play while the others buffer. I know its not my processor or ram because I had it working fine in a freenas jail for over a year but when I converted to linux and put it in a container it buffers some of movies but plays all of the music.

No server tab on Debian distant.

Hi everybody

My server : Linux sd-38842 3.2.0-4-amd64 #1 SMP Debian 3.2.60-1+deb7u3 x86_64

PMS is running but impossible to find my server on plex app (web, 2.6.0, firefox).

I've allready read https://support.plex.tv/hc/en-us/articles/204604227, unsuccessful. (but don't know how to sign in by server)

Allready reinstall PMS, unsuccessful.

Supposed origin of the problem : delete of /Library/ inside my medias, because it make appear some "media000x" file in my plex app.

Any idea ?

Thx for all and please apologize for my english.

Plex on a dedicated server. Can't access it via the web app from my house, but works fine via 3G/4G

Hello guys,

So as title says, my Plex runs on a dedicated server (Debian). It has been working flawlessly for months, but all of a sudden, I can't access it from my home connection via the web app.
The server is up and running (I still have access to all my other web services hosted on it), and all my Plex friends see it in their servers list. Also, I can access it when I try to connect via 3G/4G on the web app.
The iOS app works on 3G/4G too, but strangely also via WiFi from my home connection. I tried two different computers, on ethernet and WiFi and they both are locked out from accessing (one mac with Safari, and one PC with Firefox and Edge).
Please note: I can authentify and type my 4-digit pass, but then my server can't be found by the app. My friend's server (he invited me) also appears as "unaccessible" from the list, which REALLY confuses me...
I'm lost here...

Thank you v much!

I was able to import my iTunes playlist, however the only ones that are showing are the default lists. How can I get the playlists that I created to import?

Thanks,

Can plex media server run against a remote database?

I am aware that PMS databases are portable and thus can be sync'd via rsync/NFS/etc but these methods are usually either delayed, unreliable, or super slow.

Is it possible to run PMS against a database in the cloud?

Hi there.
After an vmware esx crash the plex server switched to a replica (Using Veeam. Its 8h old). So now i cannot stream outside the network. In house is all ok. I think its something with the certificate/token? Has anyone a idea? Synchronisation (Wifi and 4g) works outside but its not playable. Sound-streaming outside is working. Movies/TV nope di nope.

Ps. I have remove the server (devices, server, remove) and reconnect it. Dont work.
Greetings.

(Sorry for my bad english)

There was a problem playing this item

CentOS 7.2
Plex 0.9.16.3
Transcoder directory /mnt/video/download/plexcache

When playing any videos with transcoding to the SMB share I get the error "There was a problem playing this item"

There does not appear to be any issues for Plex writing to the SMB share because I can see the transcoding folder being created.

[root@htpc Logs]# df -h
Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on
/dev/mapper/centos_htpc-root 6.7G 3.5G 3.3G 52% /
devtmpfs 1.9G 0 1.9G 0% /dev

/dev/sda1 497M 161M 336M 33% /boot
//rockstor/share/video 500G 180G 320G 37% /mnt/video

I have attached a log file from when I click on any video. If I do not use the transcoder redirection then videos will play. Any ideas on why Plex stopped liking the transcoder redirection?

Suddenly SSL is weird

Hello,

I have a very strange issue. I ran my Plex on Linux and it ran out of space due to the cache and backups. After increasing the space, secure connections from within the network are not allowed. But the server is securely available from the internet.

I don't know why secure connections are not allowed in the local network. Any ideas?

Thanks!

Scanner does everything trice.

I started scanning my (somewhat large) library. At first, everything went great! And so i left it unattended for a while.
Scanning -> Downloading Metadata -> Finished processing. <- All this with about 5% load on the cpu.
But now, this happens and the cpu load goes up towards 70% on all cores, and my library is smaller now by around 10 items.
The scan goes ridiciously slow as well.

Before anyone asks, i'm using rar2fs for this to happen. But I cant/fail to see if this is the issue or not.
The logs doesnt say anything interesting either.

libboost_system.so.1.59.0 - missing but are in folder

Hi

Im trying to do a manual scan via terminal commands on my Debian 8 setup, but when I run;
(sudo) /usr/lib/plexmediaserver/Plex\ Media\ Scanner --list

I only get the following error;
/usr/lib/plexmediaserver/Plex Media Scanner: error while loading shared libraries: libboost_system.so.1.59.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

Thing is that the file that its says its missing are in the folder.

Anyone know a fix for this?

Upgraded to 0.9.16.4, subs stopped working on some items

$

I was watching a Japanese language movie with SRT embedded (also contained SRT Forced but didn't have it set to that). Subs were fine. I upgraded to 0.9.16.4 but now I can't get subs to work on that same movie I'd already started with subs! Restarting PMS, enable subs box ticked, all variants that worked before, now don't.

Anyone else have problems with subs? Even before this upgrade I couldn't get embedded .ass subs to work on other Japanese shows, even though they play flawlessly in both the web interface and the Android app.

Suffice to say subs in Plex can be pretty hit and miss but now I can't finish that movie I started (unless I brush up on my Japanese).

So 0.9.16.4 on Debian, my PHT is on my Mac mini 1.4.1. Stumped but I guess this is related to this specific version of PMS and this is more of a bug report than anything else... :/

Wakeonlan with a DD-WRT router?

$

Hi all,

I would like to set up wake-on-lan with my dd-wrt router so that it wakes up from Suspend any time someone tries to access the files. Has anyone done this? I tried to set it up but it doesn't seem to have the functionality I am looking for. It says:

"This page allows you to Wake Up hosts on your local network (i.e. locally connected to your router). You can manually wake up hosts by clicking the Wake Up or you can program an automatic schedule wake up thanks to the WOL daemon."

Under Administration > WOL > I selected my Plex server.

There is no option to wake up the server by attempted access to port 32401 on the server, which is what I want. there's only the option to wake the machine up manually. That does work well, but I want an automatic function.

Any ideas how to accomplish this?

Thanks.

Claim a new server fail

Hi everyone,

I bought a VPS few weeks ago and setup different services. Everything was find until I finally setup my plex server on it. The videos were laggy because I didn't take a server with enough power.
So I took a better on with an i5 instead of an Atom.

I re-setup everything and erase my old server.

When I go through the web app, the service told my that there is an unclaimed server. But I cannot do anything to claim and access it.

I look around for a day to find out but I still get stuck.

Any hint of how can I fix this ?

Thanks.

Unable to claim server on Arch

I just installed plex-media-server-plexpass from AUR on my Arch install on my Raspberry PI 2. While the server starts fine and indexes my files, I am unable to claim my server on my Plex.tv account. I've run a Plex server on Windows 10 from this network previously without issue and I updated my firewall rules to point to my Linux box instead of my Windows box.

When I look at my Plex Media Server.log file, I see the following output from when I try to claim the server:

It appears that some XML response I am expecting from the server is instead returning a HTTP 403 or some other non-XML response. I enabled tokens in my logs so I could try to view the response coming back from the server, but trying to navigate to that URL produces a 404 page from Plex.tv.

Does anyone know how I can get this server claimed so that I can use it?
