Does Plex have an app for a Linux Enigma2 set top box recorder. There is an app on the box which is called Dream Plex but I don't think it is supported by Plex.

I just setup a Plex server on debian.
I have setup a remote library using amazon cloud drive.
I mount the ACD with ACD_CLI.
The plex user is able to write to the cloud library and it seems to encode the file into it.
However when the optimize version ends encoding I have the following error: Unable to convert
I tried to check the logs but I was not able to find the reason.
Could you please help me to understand the issue?
Where are the logs located for encoder.
I looked at Plex media server.log located in /var/lib/plexmediaserver/Library/Application Support/Plex Media Server/Logs

Starting since ~1.0, Sync will not complete properly to my Ipad (Air 2). According to the iOS Sync UI and the PMS UI Activity page, all files transcode, then get to "downloading". Then the progress bar on iOS increases to 60 something and then goes back to 50, and then eventually gets into the "Some downloads failed to complete" state and stays there (won't recover on subsequent syncs). Weird thing is that PMS Web UI (under devices) shows that the episodes are synced to the device, but the device will not allow them to play. Get a "Couldn't retrieve the play queue for this item". There's plenty of disk space on the server (~20GB) and on the iPad (~23GB).

Things I've tried:

• Deleting the Plex iOS App and reinstalling

• Deleting all the Sync+ folders on the Server and re-syncing

Neither seems to have any effect.

Please advise if anyone has any other ideas. Sync was the one reason I bought a Plexpass. Going on a 6 hour flight next week and would like to be able to watch stuff.

In the log (in DEBUG mode) the most recent failed Sync starts around 8:46 Aug 5.

Assuming that multiple devices can stream different content from a Plex server at the same time - which I'm not sure of either at the moment, is a Raspberry Pi 2 up to the job of transcoding 2 or more streams at a time?

To set some scope, whilst I might use it for some video, that would probably be the only transcoding job it was doing - if indeed transcoding was necessary, I'd think it will probably be streaming it in the same format most of the time. What I would like however is to move my entire CD collection to the Plex server in FLAC or similar lossless format, then be able to have at least two people able to access different tracks/albums at the same time.

I guess, that a lot of the time, as it will be streaming to another Pi plugged into a HiFi there would be no need for transcoding, but there will be times when it is steaming to a device on the same local network, and another over the web which will both require transcoding.

After a recent hard reboot, I ran a FSCK on the disk and pushed the latest PMS, and I updated the OS to the latest.

Only thing I didn't do was do-release-upgrade

Plex has been down since. going directly to server:32400/web gives me the usual plex interface, but the first time I went, it said my sever was unclaimed - this is not the first time I've seen the server be unclaimed, so I claimed it, to get things going again. As soon as I did that, the server completely disappeared. going to server:32400/web still results in the web client, but it does not find any servers.

The only thing I can do to make it "work" again, is to remove the Preferences.xml file and restart the server. As soon as I do, the web interface tells me there's a new server available (gives me the option to claim it) which doesn't get past the first page, then promptly cuts out and I'm back to searching for servers.

I've examined logs but DEBUG is enabled and they're spammed with a lot of unnecessary stuff.

Server: running on VMware ESXi 5.5, NFS to storage.

Network: Dual-stack configuration, IPv4 and IPv6 fully connected, native, NAT on IPv4, no UPnP (32400 forwarded from primary gateway). IPv6 was enabled in previous config (before renaming Preferences xml file)

Storage: FreeNAS, NFS to ZFS (no issues here, can access storage without issue)

I'm happy to post logs, it's just a lot to sanitize.

Anybody have any thoughts on this?

[Ubuntu 16.04.1 Server]: Upgrade to 1.1.4.2757 (was on the immediately previous version, not sure what the number was, 1.1.3 something I think) and the Plex Mix feature stopped working. I can still play music, but if I try to start a Plex Mix, nothing happens. I've attached the logs as well.

I recently moved my Plex server from Windows Server to Centos 6. Everything transferred fine and is running smoothly after some initial hiccups. My media has always been on a ZFS on Linux file share, initiially through samba, but now locally on the host (I bought a new server that is capable to be my file host and run Plex at the same time). The problem I am having is that the media library files are owned by an AD user and have group permissions tied to an AD group. To allow Plex to be able to see the files, I am having to give world read and execute permissions to the files and directories.

I'd like to be able to let plex run as an AD user if possible but I'm not really sure how. Is there a config file that tells it what user to run as? If so, can I tell it to run as user@realm?

I had mint 17.1 on 240 Gb SSD with a 4Tb drive that held my library, Plex worked and was able to see/use the 4 TB library.
I wiped the SSD last night and installed linux Mint 18 and then Plex.
Of course Plex will not see/browse to the media folders on my 4TB drive after the new install.

I reapplied permissions (??) to the 4 tb drive but I did NOT edit the fstab file (how / what do I put in it exactly?)
I changed the user name that runs plex and saved the file but it still running under the "plex user not "haeffnkr" as it should.
I added everyone and every group read/write to the files via the Mint file explorer tool.
I can not get this resolved.

Basically I need a solution, spelled out or steps in order to get this working please.

What's wrong? How can I fix?

Not sure when this started happening, but I noticed that DTS audio logos are now missing in my libraries in the Orca Samsung app and on the web UI (tried multiple browsers). Strangely enough it's displaying fine in the iOS app. Other audio formats (Dolby, AAC) are all still present in app interfaces.

I would have posted in the particular sections, but since it's also happening in the official Plex web app, I figured this may be a server-related issue. Thanks!

I'm having trouble playing videos from Plex using either Chrome and the webplayer or iPhone app, or PS4. The only thing I receive is this error message: "There was a problem playing this item".

I have rebooted the server and used debug logging, after that I downloaded the folder "Logs". Problem is that I have 50 objects in this folder. Which is the correct one? I have Plex Media Server.1, 2, 3 etc.

I use version 1.0.3.2461 as this is the latest update for OpenMediaVault which is a NAS/Debian software.

I will post logs as soon as I know which ones to post.

I am having an issue that has been ongoing for over a week now with Plex Media Server that I can't resolve. The issue is that everyday, I am having to manually log into my server and stop/restart plex server because though the server is online, it won't allow any media to play, saying error in playing, nor, will it scan any new media. I noticed that if I stop/start the server all works for about 24 hours, then, same issue comes back up. Currently, my server, it's running, I can connect to it with no problem, but I can not play anything, nor will it scan any new media, even by manually clicking to do a force refresh. It's not until I stop/start the server again that this will resolve itself, but again, only for a day, then I have to go this all over again. Don't know what is causing this issue. I figure since it's working for about a full day from the point I restart the server, that something is at some point causing the issue once a day, but I don't know what. ?? And like I said the sever stays online all the time, it's just playing/scanning media that all of a sudden stops due to something, once a day.

I was told this is a known bug in the latest version of Plex, yet I haven't found anything here in the forums about this, is that what this issue is, a bug with the latest release? Thanks.

I can provide logs if that would help, but should I edit out personal IP's in those logs or encrypt the zip file and provide the psw to anyone that can help? Don't think posting logs with that info would be a good idea, but don't know the rule Plex has towards that...

I’m having a buffering issue as of late and am having trouble determining the cause. When I first set the server up a few years ago I tested a few simultaneous transcoded streams and they played fine. Until recently though I've tended to just direct stream to Rasplex. Because of that I'm not able to say exactly when this started. I’ve carried out quite a few tests using both my main and a test server set up on a laptop in the same LAN so will try to explain the issue clearly (hopefully). It’s a long post but I’ve included some pictures

Main Server Issue
On my main server I am seeing lots of buffering and looking at the ‘speed =>’ output in the ‘Plex Media Server.log’ this seems to point to an inability to transcode at a fast enough speed some of the time. The speed value is very erratic.

The below two screenshots show 2 streams with only 1 transcoding. The transcode is going to the Dell laptop – wired client.
At 19:40 buffering occurs, no real CPU usage can be seen and the speed value is at 0 (it’s not throttled at this point):

A few minutes later buffering stops, again the CPU is not taxed but the speed values have shot right up:

Without posting endless examples I am in short seeing regular buffering (even on only 1 stream when transcoding) and very erratic ‘speed =>’ values.

The above example is an extreme one, however I am regularly seeing ‘speed =>’ values of 0.2, 0.3 etc (during which I get buffering) then a while later seeing much higher ‘speed =>’ values.

Most of the time the CPU is doing very little and the fact the CPU can produce higher ‘speed =>’ values suggests it is up to the job.

What could be causing this, it feels like transcoding should be taking place but for some reason it’s just not happening.

Direct Stream is working fine.

Test (Laptop) Server Performance
I’m seeing no issues using a server installed on a laptop in the same LAN, using the same test media. In fact, it can cope easily with 5 streams with pretty steady ‘speed =>’ values in the server log. Below is a screenshot:

Conclusions
I’m no expert but I am drawing the following conclusions so far:
• As the laptop server can cope with 5 streams with no buffering at the client end I do not have a network issue.
• I know this is simplistic but a comparison between the 2 server’s CPUs is:

So the laptop server’s CPU is better but based on the above figures I would expect the Main server’s CPU to be able to cope with a few simultaneous transcodes.

What next?
I’m not sure of where to look next so any help/pointers would be appreciated. I’m about at the limit of my knowledge. Ask away if any additional info would be useful.

When I browse to localhost:3333 I get plex's login page, I successfully login to my plex pass account but I can only see my local server.. in the settings screen under server there is no option to change to my newly installed plex server

Actually I have a Debian 7 and Plex is installed directly on Debian. In the future i want to setup a new NAS. And for the new NAS i will use Debian 8 & Docker. Plex will run in a Docker Container. I will reuse the Plex DB on my new system.

I will copy the entire plexmediaserver directory (/Library/Application Support) to the Docker Container. And this works. Right?

Do you recommend that the plexmediaserver directory is on a fast SSD or is a SATA HDD, good enough for the metadata? What is with the transcode directory? Better on SSD or HDD?

So I have a plex server running on Ubuntu 14.04. The plex server is up to date. When I go to play a movie from my Xbox One, every once in a while a movie will start toward the end, usually on the credits. So I go back mark it as unwatched, then try again. It usually works at that point. Has anyone else had this issue?

I have setup with raspberry, Raspbian and Kodi.
Everything works well except posters.
They downloaded but simply doesn't shows. I checked metadata folder and i can see all images there.

Also i can choose images if I try to edit a movie, see screenshot below. Not sure, should images shows in that menu or not.

No images in web view at all.

At Kodi looks a little bit different. It grabs background images not posters, see screenshot below. (Poster should be on the left of metadata)

I seem to be having a bit of a problem with the plex theme music for TV Shows.

Problem 1

I have followed the instructions of the plex website and have placed a .mp3 file renamed as theme in the root folder of the show e.g.

/Show1
Season 1/
theme.mp3

I also went into the server from the plex web application and have enabled local media assets on the Shows Agents tab and have moved it to the top.I then refreshed my entire media collection to re download the metadata.

However after doing so plex still does not play theme music on pc and on android phone and yes I have ticked the play theme music button.

Problem 2

After looking into the xml file of a show that does have working theme music I noticed an entry:
grandparentTheme="/library/metadata/11061/theme/1466003005"

It seems like plex stores a local cache of the mp3 in a specified directory:
To test this I tried replacing a working TV shows theme.mp3 with a different theme and refreshed the metadata, but I noticed that the theme did not change rather it played the original theme presumably the cached one from the xml directory.

Therefore I cannot change any of the theme musics or add own theme music.

I have recently upgraded to the latest download on PMS, PlexMediaServer_1.1.4.2757-24ffd60_x86.qpkg on my QNAP NAS Intel.
I only started receiving this error for MKV and AVI format files that I know of.
This is since the latest update.
I had downgraded to an earlier version that installs from the QNAP App store and that appears to still play the same files fine.
The files also work through other media players like VLC.

Is anyone else experiencing this?
Is there a fix and known cause?
