Hi all,

I am getting this constant error in my Plex Media Server.1.log, it just happens over and over and my Preferences.xml contains the following allowedNetworks="192.168.1.0/255.255.255.0"

DVR Tuner not working, cannot re-add it

Hello,

I have the HDHomeRun tuner and it has been working with Plex since the earliest days of the beta. Recently, the Plex server stopped displaying the availability of the tuner. I noticed it a few weeks ago but am only now investigating the issue.

It's kind of important to me to make this work since I'm located in Houston and want to let my family and friends see the local news channels for important information for those without power but have phones during Hurricane Harvey.

I have tested the tuner using both Silicon Dust's Windows client and visiting the tuner directly in the browser, and with the Windows 10 app. In all cases, the tuner is working fine and I can watch my local TV stations.

Plex, however, refuses to see it. I suspect something is amiss with my Plex database or something. I removed it from Plex and was going to re-add it, but it is never discovered and if I put in the IP address manually, nothing happens.

In the Plex Media Server.log file, I see this each time I try to manually add it:

Aug 27, 2017 13:44:12.811 [0x7f32fbbff700] INFO - DVR:Grabber: The device was already discovered at http://192.168.210.132, updating URI

So Plex seems to think it is still installed and configured, but this is not the case at all.

How can I force Plex to re-add this device? Is there something in the database I need to flip, is there a .conf file somewhere that is lying about the current state, or is there something else going on here?

Can't get metadata to update for tv shows.

The Orville Episode 12 never gets meta data.

I can't find anything in the logs indicating any reason for this, it's on thetvdb website. I ahve refreshed Metadata, numerous times with no success. File is named properly with the episode name as well.

Plex Movie agent using TV ratings for movies

$

Title says it. On new movies being added to my library, using the 'Plex Movie' agent, movies will default to using a TV rating rather than an MPAA rating. So for example Die Hard 1988 is put as 'TV-14', when the certification is 'R'. This seriously messes with home users and restricting ratings, as I would have to add all tv ratings under movie allowed ratings as well. I also tried clearing the plugin support cache folder, 'fix match' and 'refresh metadata', but the scanner still uses the wrong rating.

This does not happen with the TMDB agent.

Plex on Ubuntu with pfSense router can't connect directly

I am running Plex on Ubuntu 16.04.3 LTS and I have a mini-pc router running pfSense 2.4.1 Community Edition.

It seems to only be able to connect in "Indirect" mode when I use the "https://app.plex.tv/desktop" URL. When I use the URL for the local network machine (http://plex.local:32400/web/index.html#) it says it is "Nearby".

When I go to the Server > Remote Access page in Settings, it shows green. That the server is accessible. Any ideas what is causing this? I would like to be able to use it while away from home.

Ubuntu 16.04 LTS, PMS soft hangs/locks up after a while

Good evening!

Have been having some issues lately(last month or so maybe more) with Plex Server just freezing up, it becomes unresponsive but it doesnt actually crash. But it becomes unreachable on the local LAN and outside. Something is going on and i need some help figuring out what. Attaching the the server log. I've scimmed the log myself and can see some issues regarding the sync.

OS: Ubuntu server 16.04 LTS
PMS Version: 1.10.1.4602 (issue didn't arrive in this version)
Steps to reproduce: unknown, happens randomly as far as i can tell. Sometimes after one week sometimes after shorter.
Steps to solve: restart Plex service

I run PlexPy and it said that Plex became unreachable at 13:35, so around that time in the logs is probably where the useful information is....

Any ideas, pointers?

Ubuntu Plex Server Inaccessible After Upgrade

I recently upgraded to the latest version of Plex Server for Ubuntu. It seemed to install fine and I can see Plex running when I run 'ps aux', but Plex.tv no longer finds my server, and connecting directly to port 32400/web on the server I can't connect either. Any way to troubleshoot?

Plex media server doesn't recognize valid IPv6 address ranges for non-auth required addresses

When I add a properly formatted IPv6 address range in the "List of IP addresses and networks that are allowed without auth" field, Plex does not recognize the address as a valid address.

My current entry looks similar to this:

192.168.1.0/24,2600:abcd:1234:5678::/64

I find in my Plex Media Server.log file the following errors:

Dec 25, 2017 18:28:34.725 [0x7f712e7ff700] ERROR - Error parsing allowedNetworks '2600:abcd:1234:5678::': Invalid argument

Using the format 2600:abcd:1234:5678::/64 is the proper method for specify an IPv6 address range and should be supported by any application that conforms to IPv6 standards.

Please address.

Force Plex to only bind to a specific IP.

Is there any way to set Plex to not bind to every IP available on a machine? I have specific services setup under specific virtual IP's on my media server, all configured to use only the IP I specify. Plex currently jumps on all of them and binds ports on each ip;

PMS on Ubuntu Recently Added thumbs wonky

$

A few days ago, my server started showing the thumbnails in the 'recently added video' section absurdly large and zoomed way in. Since they are so large, the next section down (recent tv) cuts off the bottom half of the thumb as well as the description, making it impossible to quickly see what a thumb is. (See screenshot).

Any ideas?

I have a movie listed in IMDB that plex simply refuses to include.

The title is "Orchestra Wives (1942)" - BTW the file is named exactly like what is between the quotes, and this was copied right off the IMDB database.

I just installed Plex Server on Ubuntu 13.10 64bit server. The install it self went fine from what i can tell but when i when open Plex webpage at http://server.ip:32400/web the "server" tab is missing, all i see is "web" and "device"

Any ideas on what could be causing this?

Note: There is no desktop environment on this box and when i am opening the webpage for the Plex Server i am on a remote machine.

Recommended Ubuntu Config for Plex Server (not hardware)

Hi all,

I just switch from Windows to a Ubuntu. What are some tips and tricks to get the most of this setup? I would like this to be "headless" as possible. Should I run plex as a service? If I do, it runs under any user logged in, correct? (just like a windows service?) Anything else I should consider to make this as much like an appliance as possible?

Thanks

Error: No Write Access to Desination and Files not Playing (SOLVED)

I am running Ubuntu 16.04 LTS and the most recent version of plexmediaserver 1.4.3. I have changed the permissions of my plex libraries to 755 for both files and directories. The directories containing media are:

/media//Plex (the actual drive)/Media Folders (TV, Movies, Music, etc.)/

I have set ownership of /media//Plex/ to plex:plex for the whole directory. I can see all of my files in their proper libraries but they will not play or sync to my local devices. Also, when I attempted to record a TV show using Plex DVR I got an error stating "No write access to destination".

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this?

Photos not indexing correctly

$

I have a Plex server running on a VM with Linux Ubuntu. It picks up a network share to find media. In particular, I have a bunch of photos organized like this:

The base directory is a single library in Plex.

Base directory: /media/6tb_share/Pictures

  • YYYY-MM Vacation #1 Name

    • Day 1
      * Photo 1
      * Photo 2
      * Photo 3
    • Day 2
      * Photo 1
      * Photo 2
      * Photo 3
    • Day 3
      * Photo 1
      * Photo 2
      * Photo 3
    • etc.
  • YYYY-MM Vacation #2 Name

    • Day 1
    • Day 2
    • Day 3
    • etc.
  • YYYY-MM Vacation #3 Name

    • Day 1
    • Day 2
    • Day 3
    • etc.
  • etc.

I had expected the top-level to show a folder for each vacation, and then subfolders for each day, and then photos inside each day.

What actually happened is much weirder. Sometimes that happened. For example, we have a directory with two subdirectories, and they both navigate exactly as expected.

But other times i puts the "day" directories at the top-level in the library.

And other times it puts individual photos at the top level in the library.

I've tried deleting and re-adding the library. I've also tried removing the vacation directories that are not working as expecting and re-adding. Neither seems to fix it.

The really frustrating issue is the inconsistency. If it was consistently odd then I might be able to find a work-around, but there doesn't seem to be much logic to it.

Any suggestions?

[Debian 8.9] Server settings unavailable

Hi everybody,

After month of flawless use, I'm facing a problem.
Debian 8.9 running Plex 1.11.0.4633-70f9c31ed

I actualised the series library, and some seen/unseen tokens went wrong.
So I've decided to restore a db backup (one from the sheduled backup), following this guide
I noticed that some of the files were missing (-shm and -wal), but I did all said.

If I get all my files back with correct tokens for all users, I lost access to server parameters, and can't play any media anymore (due to an incorrect parameter like transcode directory, I assume).

I learned from that problem that the sheduled backup is not enough alone, and that I have to script an entire backup of the correct directory, but for now, how can I fix this ?

I found some errors in the logs :
