CloudSync to Google Drive Not Uploading

Within the last week I have been unable to sync any media to the cloud using CloudSync and Google Drive.

Has a Plex update killed this? I am not seeing anything meaningful in the logs.

The issue first was when I deleted media from the CloudSync (due to Google Drive being at full capacity), it never removed it from Google Drive (after 24+ hours), so I manually removed all the media from Google Drive, Unlinked Google drive and Linked it again. Now it won't upload anything.

I see this in the logs:

Ubuntu 16.04 LTS, HW accelerated streaming works one time then zombie process, NVIDIA GTX 750 TI

Hello!

Im giving HW accelerated streaming a go, im using a NVIDIA GTX 750 TI card. I can start one HW transcoded stream but it doesnt seem to terminate the transcoder correctly when ending the stream, it turns into a zombi process after the stream has been ended and after that no more transcoded streams can be started due to that zombie process.

Is there some kind of permission that i need to give or is this a unsupported card and YMMV? Any tips pointers?

PMS Version: latest public release
And i have plex pass.

Software Index Is Broken

Ok, so ever since I installed the second last Linux update to the PMS on my 64bit HP laptop running Linux Mint 17.1 Rebecca, it looks like it's completely crippled the Software Manager in Linux. Now when I download the latest update and attempt to install it the Software Manager tells me the following:

This is a major failure of your software management system. Please check for broken packages with synaptic, check the file permissions and correctness of the file '/etc/apt/sources.list' and reload the software information with: 'sudo apt-get update' and 'sudo apt-get install -f'.

When I open Synaptic it tells me "plexmediaserver needs to be updated but an archive can't be found for it". It also tells me "internal error opening cache(1)".

I've been told this is due to the repository being the lucid version and I need the trusty version for Linux Mint. Here's some info on my system:

So, here are some questions:

1. Is there a trusty version available?

2. Why on earth would this be crippling my entire Software Manager tool?

3. How do I fix this?

Plex Media Server Repo for Debian

Hi.
We have decided to lock the other Debian thread and start a new one so I can edit the first post since Origin is no longer and has not been maintaing this package for a while.

All credits goes to Tobias and the other at Plex for PMS and the init script for Debian were made by Origin. I have just taken all there work and efforts and repacked it for Debian since the ubuntu package is not compatible since the change to upstart.

Down here is the instructions for installing PMS from my repo. This packages is for now compatible with Debian Squeeze , Wheezy and OpenMediaVault 0.3 , 0.4

First Time install

sudo apt-get install curl

If you are running Squeeze,Wheezy or Jessie with SYSVINIT
echo "deb http://shell.ninthgate.se/packages/debian wheezy main" | sudo tee -a /etc/apt/sources.list.d/plexmediaserver.list

If you are using Jessie with systemd then use the Ubuntu package from plex and you will get their repo.

sudo curl http://shell.ninthgate.se/packages/shell.ninthgate.se.gpg.key | sudo apt-key add -
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install plexmediaserver

Upgrading

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get upgrade

The init script Original by Origin with a minor modification by me

Just curious if it's proper to have the main plex system plugin running at nice 15 or did I screw up and press the wrong fkey in htop one day?

Also you're sticky on the new vaapi drivers stated we were waiting on the 22nd. Curious if there's and good word on that front.

Thanks!

Plex HW acceleration in LXC container - anyone with success?

My base system is running Proxmox V5.1 with Linux kernel 4.13.13

Multiple networks

My family has bought an acreage that has two houses on it. They’re in one house, my children and I in the other.

We will each have our own internet accounts, so two completely separate IP’s.

How can I connect my Plex (Debian) to both networks do we can all enjoy it?

We’re out in the country and have limited bandwidth for the internet (Netflix is about to become a novelty) so I want to put the server in the building between us so we can both access it as if we were one network.

Do I need to set up two NIC’s? Configuration?

I’m pretty decent with networking, but this is new to me.

My server wont save some settings

Hi all,

Since moving my server to Ubuntu 16.04, it simply wont save some of my settings when the server reboots or I restart it manually.

The settings that currently wont stick are the Friendly name, and the secure connections, which I have to keep setting back to "preferred" from "disabled. I've hit save, they stick for the life of the system until it or plex are restarted.

Any ideas why this may happen? Is there a configuration file that may have the wrong permissions?

I'm currently running Version 1.10.1.4602 but it's happened for at least 4 months through various versions of updates.

Shows with same name

Hey, not sure if this is quite the right place to post this comment but on my Ubuntu Plex Server i have two shows with the same titles in this case lets say ThuderCats (1987) and ThunderCats (2011). I've tried changing the way i named the folders/episodes multiple times but i can get plex to see it as the 1987 version or the 2011 version despite having both.

Thoughts?

Thanks

using the WD MyCloud as storage for Plex ?

Morning all,

ok i have Plex running on a Raspberry Pi with a USB Hardrive attached to it and this works great, it can see the media and it all indexed fine.

I decide to brush the dust of my WD MyCloud 3TB box (single bay) and from windows i can see the share fine via \IP_Address..
I've installed Plex on my Desktop and it is happy with the above (i dont need to create a mapped drive) and indexes ok.

so i'd like to use the WD via the Pi instead (i dont keep the pc running all the time) .. so when i had a library i can only see the local
linux shares, the USB drive is in the /MNT/ folder already..

So do i need to create a manual folder in the /mnt area and then somehow link the UNC path to that folder..
on the windows version i was able to just use the UNC Path for the library folder.. doesnt seem to let me on the Pi version.

just checking to see what the correct method is.. thanks.

Every day or so my server will go down, with not much to say about it in the logs. I've finally figured out that it's not a case of the server crashing, but a problem with remote connections reaching the server.

Most of the time, I have a red mark next to my Remote Access, but it actually still is accessible. I can make it go away by hitting the retry in the port settings. When the server becomes inaccessible, I find this in my logs:

//Note that the IP address used is slightly altered for anonymity

DEBUG - EventSource: Got event [data] '<Message address="112.238.143.66" port="32400" connectivity="0" command="notifyConnectivity"/>'
WARN - PubSub: Received notifyConnectivity event with incorrect async identifier (, expected fcfd1f2a-7624-41e9-b047-ec3143528965)

Looking further, I receive this message every 10 seconds (even if the server is working properly):

WARN - NetworkServiceBrowser: Error sending out discover packet from 112.238.143.66 to 239.255.255.250: Operation not permitted

It was with this that I noticed that my public IP is the same as my private IP. Within /etc/network/interfaces, I have the following:

auto lo
iface lo inet loopback

auto em1
iface em1 inet static
        address 112.238.143.66
        netmask 255.255.255.248
        gateway 112.238.143.65

This is not a private address, but the one that is publicly accessible. My /etc/hosts file is as follows:

127.0.0.1 localhost
127.0.1.1 alienII

alienII is what I connect to when I SSH into the server.

I've attached an image showing that my private IP is the same as my public. Is this what could be giving me connection problems?

Subtitle symlinks in Library break after Library move

Hello,

I'm running into an issue where, when you have the option to automatically download Subtitles, Plex will symlink these subtitles files (.sub) using an absolute path.

I recently moved my Library from one system to another, and my Plex library folder is no longer in the same absolute path. Therefore, when trying to play a piece of media, it will throw an error that the .sub file cannot be found and the video simply won't play.

Here's the snipped from the log:

Aug 06, 2015 18:59:10 [0x2b6f30a02700] ERROR - Couldn't find the file to stream: /config/Library/Application Support/Plex Media Server/Media/localhost/9/b72ac32c9ae17d28ca72292bef020ab4913aa65.bundle/Contents/Subtitles/en/com.plexapp.agents.opensubtitles_b0e3f2cb2f11e275d50bf4b7dc86f257280ad7cc.sub<br /> Aug 06, 2015 18:59:10 [0x2b6f30600700] ERROR - [Transcoder] /tmp/plex-transcode-mw450pdjv5ws-3cc1824d-ce99-46a6-acee-a62b5b763a28/temp-0.sub: Invalid data found when processing input

And here is the file that exists in my PMS Library folder:

lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 239 Jul 14 16:58 com.plexapp.agents.opensubtitles_b0e3f2cb2f11e275d50bf4b7dc86f257280ad7cc.sub -> /volumes/config/Library/Application Support/Plex Media Server/Media/localhost/9/b72ac32c9ae17d28ca72292bef020ab4913aa65.bundle/Contents/Subtitle Contributions/com.plexapp.agents.opensubtitles/en/b0e3f2cb2f11e275d50bf4b7dc86f257280ad7cc.sub

Note that the .sub file is symlinked to the absolute path: /volumes/config/Library/...

When I moved my server, this folder no longer exists. Seeing as I have thousands of media files with subtitles, it's inconceivable to have to change these all manually.

Is there a way to do this automatically? Will Plex do this automatically through the daily / weekly maintenance task?

Temporarily, I've created this folder as a symlink so that Plex can play media, otherwise I was unable to play anything with subtitles.

Could someone lend a helping hand please?

Thanks!

Hardware Transcoding - HW decoding of 10bit HEVC does not work

Plex 1.9.3.4290

Decoding works on regular HEVC and h264 just fine

This issue also existed in the preview and was reported, so I suspect there might be a reason?

Cross platform question and several other questions

Hey there,

I'm quite new to Plex and already have several questions/ideas.

Right now I'm using it mainly for my Android TV with a debian server, which seems to run fine. But I have some peeves.

First off, this debian server doesn't exactly have the specifications for a proper transcoding server (heck it's a VM actually) .. so how does the server platform work actually? Like say if I set up plex server on my gamepc. Does it share library? (seeing, same network) and is there a way to make them play together (distributed)?

So say the following happens: I'm trying to start a 4K movie on my phone, it needs to transcode it ofc. But my VM doesn't nearly have enough power, I want it to ask the gamepc to share some of the load (or take it all, at this stage of theorycrafting I don't mind)

But it always has to prioritize the plex server for all queries.

Second, I'm quite annoyed that I have to work server/client, but so be it. As my android tv has the power to directly play everything, isn't it just waste of network bandwidth to first go to plex server then to TV? That makes 2x the needed bandwidth compared to 1x if it directly goes to TV. Is there a way to make "that" play nice? Ideas I'm considering is Plex server on nas (horribly slow with indexing, but yeh if it directly sends the file it shouldn't matter) or Plex server on TV (I'm not sure what extras the Plex server does, like is there overhead processing when it streams to itself?)

Could anyone share some insights please?

Final side question: I'm using IPTV via KingBox, is there a proper IPTV plugin I could use? I tried https://github.com/Cigaras/IPTV.bundle but it doesn't want to play nice.. are there others?

Server Settings are Unavailable - Ubuntu 17.04

Afternoon all,

I have just installed plex again as I had an issue with my server. This was unrelated to Plex.

I've reinstalled and setup all my drives and a new install of Plex (latest plex pass version).

After install I moved my backup database into the folder as indicated on the website renaming it etc.

I've restarted but have no pictures of series, music etc and I can access the server settings.

All the information on the web looks old (https://forums.plex.tv/topic/170425-server-settings-are-unavailable/) and I can't find any .bundle files/folders.

Some advise would be greatly appreciated.

SERVER SETTING UNAVAILABLE ON 16.04 LTS

I attempted a solution provided in another form but to no avail. The solution stated that the service must be stopped (check), that the following command issued (sudo rm -f "/var/lib/Library/Application Support/Plex Media Server/Plug-ins/Services.bundle"), and that the service is restarted.

However, the structure or path seems to be different when viewed. Additionally I attempted a fresh install but no luck.

Plex media server doesn't recognize valid IPv6 address ranges for non-auth required addresses

When I add a properly formatted IPv6 address range in the "List of IP addresses and networks that are allowed without auth" field, Plex does not recognize the address as a valid address.

My current entry looks similar to this:

192.168.1.0/24,2600:abcd:1234:5678::/64

I find in my Plex Media Server.log file the following errors:

Dec 25, 2017 18:28:34.725 [0x7f712e7ff700] ERROR - Error parsing allowedNetworks '2600:abcd:1234:5678::': Invalid argument

Using the format 2600:abcd:1234:5678::/64 is the proper method for specify an IPv6 address range and should be supported by any application that conforms to IPv6 standards.

Please address.
