[Centos 7]: TV season metadata not loading for >19 seasons - 1.0.3.2461

I hope this isn't a common problem, but I haven't been able to find any posts that seem to apply.

I'm having an issue scanning a TV show with a lot of seasons (Doctor Who). Something is choking as soon as it hits the 19th season: the additional episodes/seasons get added to the library, but it doesn't add in any episode metadata or cover image information for any of them.

It doesn't appear to be an issue with the files themselves. The first few times, I scanned the entire batch at once; it scanned the seasons out-of-order and consistently ended up with a block of blank seasons in the middle starting at season 5. I've pulled the whole show out and completely uninstalled and cleared my installation, and then tried adding the seasons one-by-one, and it consistently stops adding new metadata when the total number of seasons hits 20 (counting season 0) regardless of which particular season tips it over that number (for instance, if I skip seasons 16, 17, and 18 then it stops adding metadata on season 22).

I've found a few errors/warnings in the logs when it hits this point, but they aren't telling me much. The most relevant appears to be an exception in 'PMS Plugin Logs/com.plexapp.system.log'.

Best Way to Do This

So I have CentOS 7

I have two hard drives connected to the computer via SATA cables. The operating system is installed on sda and I got a secondary hard drive (same size) on sdb. Both are encrypted using LUKS but how can I get sdb automatically mounted within a specific directory automatically upon boot?

Unable to manually add Plex plugin bundles

Using a Linux based server (unRAID) and tried a few plugin bundles for my Plex Media Server and having no luck getting them listed under Channels. Any ideas? Able to manually install same plugins on PMS running Windows, just not the Linux one. I've restarted both PMS and my server...

Upgrade from Ubuntu 14 to 16 causes server to go away.

I managed to get the server running again, but none of the libraries showed up. I can recreate the libraries, but I've lost all of my customizations. It also shows an old server name as the name of the server while the server name before the update is shown as unreachable. How can get things back to their state before the upgrade to 16?

CentOS Static IP

I keep bashing my head against this but I can't seem to find a good article that describes a working method of setting up a static ip in CentOS 7. This is a rather trivial thing but I don't really work well with CentOS. Currently I am getting the following error message with my current configuration:

centos sh[8779]: sendto: Network is unreachable

Can anyone point me to a proper working tutorial?

Plex media server running slow and sometimes playing wrong title

So i have a server of several TB now of movies, TV and Music, it was working fine until the last two updates, since when its been playing up. It will randomly play wrong titles, or just fail to respond to client requests. My thinking is that for some reason maybe the datbase is outdated/corrupt in some way so my first call would be to remove everything and simply start again. Is there a way to actually remove plex and all its settings so i can reinstall it on the machine or has anyone come accross this kind of activity with the latest releases.

Its Linux Mint 17.3 with latest Plexpass version of the server
About 7-8tb of files and images.

Deb Repo / Latest Links

Hello! I know this has been asked before, but can we get an official Plex repository, or at minimum static links to the latest version of the package? This would make shell scripts / tooling for automatic updates much easier to write.

Thanks!

Restrict Plex Transcode Stream to one cpu core

Typically if you have a decent cpu then one transcode stream can be handled by one core. I have noticed in the past that one stream can light up 6 or 7 of my available cpu threads unnecessarily. Only one cpu thread is typically needed to transcode one stream, and restricting a transcoding job leaves the server with some cpu cycles for other things. I have written a script to adjust the xml profiles in Plex so that one cpu thread is used when transcoding.

After each plex server upgrade I was manually adjusting the xml profiles, and it got to be a pain, so I wrote a script to do it quickly.

The script will also backup the original files in case you want to put things back to the defaults. Attaching my script to this post, feedback is welcome.

I have not tested this script on Windows, Mac, BSD, etc, but it should work properly if you change one line to point it to correct directory.

Updating PMS on Ubuntu Server?

$

Hi all,

In looking for the simplest way to upgrade my Plex Server I've tried $ sudo apt get update and $ sudo apt-get upgrade, but PMS is just not upgrading.

My Kernel is:
4.2.0-42-generic

My OS is:
Distributor ID: Ubuntu
Description: Ubuntu 14.04.5 LTS
Release: 14.04
Codename: trusty

$ sudo apt-get update returns:

W: Failed to fetch http://plex.r.worldssl.net/PlexMediaServer/ubuntu-repo/dists/lucid/InRelease

W: Failed to fetch http://plex.r.worldssl.net/PlexMediaServer/ubuntu-repo/dists/lucid/Release.gpg Could not resolve 'plex.r.worldssl.net'

W: Some index files failed to download. They have been ignored, or old ones used instead.

So, seeing the Lucid repo above, I thought I'd be clever and look for the Trusty repository, found this thread here; https://forums.plex.tv/discussion/186136/ubuntu-repository and added this repo, but still no joy.

How can I remove the old Lucid repo?

Is it worth uninstalling and re-installing PMS? If so, what is the best command line method for the uninstall? (I'm still learning Linux)

Should PMS be stopped before trying any of this? - What is the command line way to stop & start PMS?

Thanks, Scott.

Why can't I see my server when I log in to the web ui via my server?

I am running the latest plex stable release for Ubuntu 64 bit on Ubuntu 16.
I have a headless hosted virtual machine.
I do-
Wget [url from download page]
sudo dpkg -i [file just downloaded]
Service plexmediaserver status returns active
Via my laptop i ssh tunnel my connection to the server's IP as localhost:3333 -> [server-ip]:32400.

All ports are open in my firewall

When I browse to localhost:3333 I get plex's login page, I successfully login to my plex pass account but I can only see my local server.. in the settings screen under server there is no option to change to my newly installed plex server

I just migrated from a Windows server 2012 to Ubuntu 16.04. I am now unable to get any media files to play or I get video with no audio. While on the Windows system (still available) everything plays fine. This is a headless Ubuntu server running as a container VM. Am I missing some codecs or something else?

How to fix "sync permission" managed users

$

I'm running my Plex server (Version 1.1.3.2700) on Ubuntu 14.04, and for some reason my managed users are unable to sync media. The exact error message is, "The user does not have permission to sync". When I look at the managed user settings the "Allow Sync" check box is selected.

I've tried restarting the server, restarting the computer, syncing to iOS and Android, deleting the users and creating new users with no luck.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

There was a problem saving these settings

$

I've always had problems with plex not being able to find my server despite forcing it to use port 32400, even with a machine exposed directly onto the internet, even in three different continents on different machines... It always finds a way to not work.

Now, it won't even install. I get to the first configuration page after the upsell screen, and then click next to take the defaults, and it just says "There was a problem saving these settings"

If I just reconnect back to /web/index.html, it goes to the main plex page, but in order to do anything I have to sign in. As soon as I sign in, it starts passing through to app.plex.tv instead, which of course can't see the server, which I can no longer configure since connecting directly to it passes through to app.plex.tv, which can't see the server... You see the dilemma. So I have to uninstall the whole thing and then try again, with the same results.

Logs don't seem to be of much help. Permissions look fine. I'm running plex server 1.1.3.2700 on freshly installed Ubuntu server 16.10, no antivirus, with and without router/firewall.

But I am not sure where to start looking as to what happens.

Additionally my Plex Windows 10 app refuses to play any dual audio media in other languages.

Server not seeing my files

$

I am setting up a new Plex server, but I'm having issues getting it to see my files.

I have a separate drive that I store my media on, mounted here: /media/jascount/Storage The files are under the subdir Videos from there. Plex will see the Storage directory, but not the Videos directory underneath that. If I just select Storage or manually enter the full path when creating a library, it will not find anything.

I then took one of the subdirectories inside the Videos folder, and added it to the Videos folder in my home directory, added that Videos directory to the library and Plex was able to find the videos in there.

Does Plex not play nicely with multiple hard drives? I tried creating a symlink to the Videos directory and putting it in my home directory, but that didn't work either.

Media Server Setup Wizard Issue on Ubuntu Server 16.04

Hello all,

I have a strange issue which I've been trying to solve for a couple of days now: after installing PMS according to the official installation documentation and accessing it for the first time, the initial setup wizard won't start, and thus, my Plex account won't pick up the server. It is a fresh Ubuntu Server 16.04 installation, and literally nothing else is running on this server.

I've gone through everything here, but still no luck. I've tried restarting the system service after boot thinking it could be a systemd issue, but that does absolutely diddly. I've completely purged the application and all configuration files from the system several times, and I've even gone through another fresh Ubuntu Server installation, still to no avail.

Has anyone experienced something similar, and if so, were you able to fix it/how? Many thanks in advance to anyone/everyone who might provide some insight/advice as to how to fix this.

Why are the direct download links gone...

Please add direct download links again on https://www.plex.tv/downloads/

It's such a fail that you replaced it with some nonsense JavaScript mechanism... I, and I am sure a lot of people, need direct download links for remotely installing deb files via SSH and download them with wget.
