I recently purchased the R9000. Initially I used a Western Digital My Book Hard Drive. I quickly learned it wasn't compatible as it locked up and I coudnl't write to it anymore. I purchased a Seagate Backup Plus Hub as I was advised it would work great with the R9000.
Here are the issues I am facing: I have around 600 movies and 100 TV Shows along with some home videos. I copied them to the Seagate drive in separate folders: "Movies" "TV Shows" and "Home Movies". I hook the hard drive up and follow the instructions for Plex on the R9000 through the Netgear Genie. Everything is fine at this point. I add the folders in Plex, the media is recognized and begins to download the metadata. This is where the problems start. As the metadata is being uploaded you can hear the hard drive working and after a few minutes it stops and all you see is the spinning wheel that goes on forever. I have left it overnight to see if it's just needs time. In the morning it is still hung up. I go back into Netgear Genie and under the PLEX menu it states "No USB Device found". I reboot the router, go back into PLEX and the media is still there with a fraction of the metadata having been applied. I try to refresh the media and the same thing happens.
Additionally, without having applied the metadata and just accessing my media, I lose connection to Plex. It seems that it randomly fails to recognize that the drive is connected.
I would appreciate any advice you may have.
I just realized I posted this in Linux....trying to delete and start again.
