Hey all,
Im really not sure where to start as im not entirely sure what is going on.
Basically my remote access to my server keeps cutting out for no apparent reason. A restart of the server seems to fix it for a bit but then it cuts back out.
To make things more confusing it'll come back online sometimes by itself.
To make it even more confusing when I get a message that it is offline other people that I share my server with can see it and vise versa.
Now, I am seeing that it is not accessible remotely but somehow i'm still getting the green check and I can see it remotely?!? (Image Included)
Im at my wits end trying to figure this out and I have no clue what else I can do. Im hoping theres something in the logs that might provide an answer.
Hello,
I'm having problems installing Plex on SUSE. I downloaded fedora 64bit rpm and installed it (tried both through YaST gui and terminal). During the installation it reports errors about no signed key
Error: INVALID:plexmediaserver-1.2.7.2987-1bef33a.x86_64 (file-1086d483): Signature verification failed [4-Signatures public key is not available]

V4 RSA/SHA1 Signature, key ID 3adca79d: NOKEY
MD5 digest: OK (b80478d89a60be4abf1d4179e2f13b3f)
Having no other option other than ignore the warning or give up, I ignored and finished the installation.
When running 127.0.0.1:32400/web through my web browser (on the same machine ofcourse) nothing happens.
I figured I should start the service, so I tried both systemctl enable plexmediaserver.service and systemctl start plexmediaserver.service . They both give the same output:
Synchronizing state of plexmediaserver.service with SysV init with /usr/lib/systemd/systemd-sysv-install...
Executing /usr/lib/systemd/systemd-sysv-install enable plexmediaserver
Failed to execute operation: Invalid argument
If there are any logs or anything I can provide to troubleshoot let me know.
I am running version 1.1.4.2757 on debian jessie.
This is happening on multiple files, and once it happens on one, it happens to media that was previously playable. Attached to this post are my log files. I have plenty of free space on my main drive, and in my transcodes folder. Anyone able to offer any insight into this?
I'm running Ubuntu 14.01.5 LTS. I have Plex installed with a lifetime Plex pass. I'm pretty sure it stopper working right after I updated Plex server. From 0.9.8.10.215 to 1.2.7.2987. I tried to reinstall the older version but I keep getting errors and it won't install. I tried rebooting the server a few times. Deleted movies updated libraries put the movies back on and updated the libraries again. (The movies I deleted had metadata now it doesn't anymore.) I tried messing around with the advance tab in the edit library.
I would like to know if there is a way to connect my WI-FI only device to a wireless network using the new embedded Plex Media Player. I didn't see a network configuration option for wireless.
After adding a section and scanning I realised there was a default thumbnail.jpg in the folder and all the movies took it as their thumbnail. I've now removed the thumbnail.jpg and any new movies added get their proper thumbnails.
(It might have been called something else, maybe folder.jpg, can't remember now it's deleted. It was put there for XBMC and Plex used to ignore it but an update changed it to force it to be used as the default thumbnail)
My problem is I have about 200 films which have this wrong default thumbnail. I've tried rescanning the films and even removing the section completely via the media manager and adding it again but the films all come back with the same default thumbnail even though it was deleted.
It looks like the film data is being kept somewhere even though I deleted the section.
I currently have Plex Media Server installed in an Ubuntu dedicated server. Issue is that my university blocks the default remote port that PMS uses and can only access it through a relay.
Is there any way to force PMS to use different port? I've tried changing the manual port in the settings but it automatically default to the original "32400"
Hi all. I used the nifty new update commands for my headless server, and then it started serving my connection indirectly. I set up a tunnel to log in and confirm it was all peachy, but when I try to log in it would 'flicker' - going back and forth from showing my account to showing the default no-account.
Specifically it's been repeating the following in logs:

Any ideas? It's still technically working - I can play media from my work computer.
After the recent upgrade (I am currently running Ubuntu 64-bit version 1.3.0.3059-6277334) I am no longer able to see my local server via the intranet IP:32400/web URL. If I log into plex.tv and Launch the application from there, I am able to once again see my server. But I cannot see it when accessing my intranet IP (which is how I always have connected in a browser to my Plex).
My cousin is also a Plex Pass subscriber and he has tested this out and sees the same issue.
I had just added the new repo and did an upgrade. Then the server (set to Plex Pass updates) was saying it was out of date so I went ahead and updated it manually to the latest version.
Why am I unable to see my local server when accessing Plex via my intranet IP?
So, I have some lingering music that I simply can't get in my library. It's a Led Zeppelin album I got from 7digital. I've played the whole "Move out - update library - empty trash - clean bundles - move in - update library game", with no success. Logs show that it scans the directory:
Old search had and new search has the same bug: it is case sensitive if I use cyrillic characters.
How to reproduce the bug?)
Try to search something with cyrillic for example "Карточный домик" will find house of cards, however, typing "карточный домик" finds nothing.
Please fix this as it should be an easy fix.
"We’ve incorporated an advanced spell-checker into your searches" , Spell checker but case sensitivity... rly???
Ubuntu 14.04.4
plex 0.9.16.4
I'm having a hard time getting some of my devices to see the plex media server i currently have running on my Raspberry Pi 2
Ive got the PMS installed to my RasPi 2 and can access it from my PC (ethernet)
My laptop (wifi) cannot see it, when i navigate to the URL http://192.168.0.16:32400/web/index.html it states it cannot locate the server
My android smartphone can access the server (wifi)
My PS4 cannot find the server (ethernet)
I've tried disconnecting from laptop and PS4 and reconnecting, this didnt help
I've got remote access disabled just for safety as ill only be using it on my local network
my RasPi has Samba installed so i can push files to it easily
Ive removed the PS4 app and reinstalled
Files will play from my PC web access but mobile cannot play (but can see newly added files)
overall im not sure whats going on and its causing a bit of frustration, any idea would be great
Also as a side note, im open to switching the pi to RasPlex as i dont use it for anything else right now, i understand i need to have the server installed elsewhere but the idea behind PMS is its a low cost energy efficiant server, with RasPlex i believe my PC/laptop would need to be on to see it and play any files?
I'm having problem with my server - i cannot log it to plex. I can connect locally via ip:32400, then message pops up asking to claim server. I head to setting, fill in login and click proceed, app flashes several times and either nothing happens or I am redirected to login screen.
Its happening on both 1.3.0.3059-6277334 and 1.2.7.2987-1bef33a even on fresh install (deleted library folder in $PLEX_HOME)
Not sure if this is the right forum for this, but figured I'd start here:
I have a Plex server that servers out 20-ish users. Not all of them pay that much attention to my Plex server; for some, it is just a tool to use when Netflix fails. Others use it once a day. I was seeking a way to notify users of what new content was added to my Plex server, without them having to go log on and check themselves. So I wrote the following script to email out all my users this summary.
What does it report?
This script pulls all new TV episodes, full seasons, and movies that have been added to a Plex server in the last week, and puts it into a (hopefully pretty) HTML email body.
Who does it send it to?
Anyone you are sharing your server with.
What do I need to run it?
Ruby, some gems, your Plex API key, and you need to be using themoviedb.org for your Movies agent, and thetvdb.org for your TV Show agent. See the github page below for more details.
Why didn't you include <insert feature here>?
I wrote this script for myself originally, so some things were tailored for my setup (such as what agents the Plex server uses). Now that I am putting it here, I am completely open to new ideas and features, and will try to get to them in a timely matter.
What about Windows/Mac support?
Since this is written in Ruby, there is no reason why this couldn't work with either OS, though ATM that remains untested.

Anyways, any questions, comments, or concerns would be appreciated!
So I've had a beautifully running Plex environment on my linux server for several years now, but recently I decided to 'Fix' what wasn't broken in the name of testing, and it's gotten to the point where I'm frustrated, and could use some patient guidance.
I've replaced my home Netgear R8000 with a Pan-500 firewall (also acting as the router/DHCP). I'd got all the basics covered with internet access out/zones/family not complaining that they can't reach what they want to, so it was time to open up my linux server back to the internet for Plex, and this is where I've been stuck for a couple days. I followed the instructions at Pinning a hole in palo alto with adjustments for the values that the plex server should be using with port 32400. To clarify, I'm defining the service object/nat rule/and security policy. And I got nothing for my efforts. I even went so far as to add a policy that took all incoming traffic on the untrust, and routed it via that service to the plex server, and while I did see some traffic using that rule, it wasn't reachable from outside still under that port.
At this point I tried to log into the plex server directly (internal ip with 32400/web), and while the site would load, if I was using the account that the server is logged in as, it wouldn't actually log me into the plex server settings, but if I used another account that the server is shared with, plex would load up content just fine. This server is (headless/gui-less) so in order to reach it via the localhost address, I had to use a SSH putty port tunnel, and then it allowed the account that was supposed to be logged into the server resolve to the server settings. I then foolishly logged out of that account, with the hopes of claiming it anew. It worked, but I was then unable to log back in. I would get an error message when attempting to do so. Some google-ing of that led me to this plex support page, but I was unable to figure out the 'DNS Resolver' setting.
Yes, these would likely be better suited to a Palo Alto support forum, but I think it would be more beneficial for me to find someone in our community who is running a similar setup, and running it correctly, particularly since port forwarding isn't really something a person should be doing with a business firewall. I admit I'm a noob when it comes to NAT, and most other 'advanced' firewall features, hence the reason for bringing home the hardware to learn with.
Thanks for reading all this, even if you can't help.
I have the latest version of Plex Server running on Ubuntu Server. We are trying to get videos to stream to other offices over our VPN network. I receive the error though on all videos, "Streaming this media is unsupported". I have tried changing from HTML5 to Flash viewer, I tried IE and Firefox. I also converted the movies from .MOV to H.264 with AAC sound as it seems is recommended to stream/transcode to affar, all to no avail. In the logs I can't see anything relevant. Any thoughts or ideas on things to check appreciated.
So I was able to transfer all my data from one vps provider to another but I want to also keep the other server up so that it fetches metadata for new stuff being added in case I have to go back to it. The problem I'm having is that I if I turn both on only one of them shows up on my server list. I'm guessing since they are clones of each other plex sees them as the same server. What do I need to change to make them run individually? I tried reclaiming both server again and it didn't work.
I've got an LG 65UF8500 4k TV that runs the Plex client well. Or at least I thought so until I tried playing a 4k media file.
I got a lot of transcoding, which my Plex server can't quite keep up with. That is expected as my server is a little slow, but that isn't the cause of the problem.
Here is my setup:
client: LG (webOS 3.10.23-p.21.biscayne.lm15u.10)
server: 1.3.0.3059-6277334 running on Fedora Linux server
network: 1 Gig ethernet network, both TV and server connected at 1 gig
media file: 4k media file with hevc (Main 10), yuv420p10le(tv), 3840x2160, see attachment for more info
Problem: Client requests a 4k stream that the server feels needs to be transcoded. There are no subtitles whatsoever.
Work Around Solution: Copy the same media file to a USB thumb drive and insert into the TV. It plays perfectly without any pauses or lag
Proposed Better Solution: Enable the Plex client running on the LG TV to better identify the types of media that can be DirectPlay'ed
Every time I try to upload a file from my server, I get a "Waiting to be uploaded" message on it that stays there constantly, has anybody else come across this, or knows how to fix it?
I've forwarded the port on my server, and I'm not sure what else to do?
