I've been trying to google for an answer, but there just isn't a definite answer to this anywhere, it seems. I've seen some mentions as to Intel CPUs, which I take to mean that it supports using QuickSync, but I have a Xeon without an iGPU, so no QuickSync. I'm not going to replace the CPU just to get QuickSync-support, but I could very feasibly get a passively-cooled Geforce GT1030, for example, for nvenc.
Does the hardware transcoder support NVIDIA's nvenc?
PMS 1.4.X buffering the stream, very slow download of media
Running PMS 1.4.1.3362-77c6a4f80
(latest Plex Pass version as of writing) on an Ubuntu Server box with plenty of horsepower. Updated to latest PMS yesterday and tried watching a movie today and it kept buffering. My Internet connection is not to blame as the trailers before the movie streamed just fine and testing throughput between the client and the server yields plenty of bandwidth.
Downloading the movie through the Plex Web interface was also slow, yielding only 400 KB/s. Downloading the same movie over SSH yielded +4 MB/s. I tried with different movies and the story was the same.
Looking at the Now Playing section showed the movie Transcoding (throttled), but looking with iftop on the server showed very little data leaving the machine.
After downgrading PMS to 1.3.4.3285-b46e0ea
(latest non Plex Pass version as of writing) the problem was solved. Downloading through Plex Web now yields +4 MB/s and the movie streams just fine.
After I finished watching the movie with 1.3.4.3285-b46e0ea
I installed 1.4.1.3362-77c6a4f80
again and the problem was back. Only 400 KB/s when downloading the movie, streaming buffers every 0.5 seconds.
The media sits on a NAS running FreeNAS and mounted on the server via CIFS. Copying the movie from there with rsync yields 100 MB/s.

Losing connection after some minutes of streaming
Hi,
I encounter problems with my Plex.
It is version 1.5.6.3790 running in the docker container provided by linuxserver.io.
After some minutes (10-20) of playback I lose connection to my server. It doesn't matter if I stream directly in my LAN or over plex.tv.
This is what my log looks like after such a connection loss:

Multithreaded transcoding
Hi,
I'm bulding Plex server and have to decide what CPU I have to buy. I use transcoding a lot, so:
- will plex use more then 12 threads?
- does it make sense to buy dual-cpu motherboard (I would get e.g. 32 threads)
Any help appreciated

Plex media server running on win 10 build 14393.1198 but cannot find server
I installed the latest Plex and Win 10 on my PC. I see plex server running in my system tray in the hidden icons. I right click on it and select 'Update Libraries' and nothing happens! I then select 'Open Plex...' and Chrome opens and then just keeps spinning with 'Looking for Servers'.
Any ideas? This is very frustrating
Two users, one has Pass, unable to find Plex server
Hello All. I am having a problem using a new user to connect to my Plex server which was created using another user.
A while ago I installed Plex on a Centos 7 server and created a user, lets call it 'user1', for the sole purpose of evaluating Plex. Everything went perfect. Today I wanted to make it official for myself, so I created a second user 'klicplex', which is the user I am using to post here, and I purchased a yearly subscription.
I am able to open a browser and connect to my Plex server and login succesfully using the user 'klicplex', but then I can not find any running Media server. However, if I login using the first user I have created 'user1', then I can see the server and connect to it.
I tried stopping/uninstalling/installing/starting Plex server on Centos 7 but that did not change anything.
Any help, or suggestions, or hints are welcomed.
Thanks in advance.

Random crashes on CentOS 7
Linux 3.10.0-514.16.1.el7.x86_64 #1 SMP Wed Apr 12 15:04:24 UTC 2017 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
Plex Version 1.6.1.3722
Plex Web Version 3.6.0
I have random crashes and I cannot seem to understand why they happen. This time, I managed to grab a debug log from the shenanigans.
Could anyone let me know what this is all about?
Edit: This log is grabbed from around the crash, until I tried to stop the service. And it takes forever to stop the service too.
Connection on Private IP Address
Plex - Same Subnet Issue
Plex clients normally identify server addresses to connect to firstly the Private Internal IP and then the External IP if it's unable to establish to the internal IP Address.
Has this behaviour changed? Because I've got a server that's still on the local subnet that always tries to connect using the external IP Address requiring NAT source translation.
PMS simply won't run on my Raspberry Pi 3
I am just about to give up. I have scoured this forum and the interwebs and tried so many different things to get it to work, still nothing. So I'm posting here in sheer desperation.
Setup: brand new RPi3, clean Raspbian Jessie 4.4 install. Ethernet connection. No firewall. Can SSH and VNC into the Pi.
Problem: can't access the web app on port :32400, or even on localhost:32400 / 127.0.0.1:32400. It always says the server is unavailable. For the love of all that is good, please help before I lose my mind...

My Library Icons/Images Missing
Hi All,
First, I'd like to say that I absolutely LOVE Plex. It's been really great. However, I recently started to experience this weird and strange issue. All of a sudden, the icons for all the categories in My Library are showing as broken images. I've even tried removing and re-adding the catalogs but the icon seems to not be available at the address indicated. Attached is a screenshot of what it looks like. It doesn't matter which browser I'm using, they all do not load the images.
Plex Media Server is running in a 32-bit Ubuntu 12.04 environment. Plex Media Server version: Version 0.9.7.28, Plex Web version: Version 1.2.6 (I clicked check for updates and it shows as being the latest version).
I've even deleted the Framework.bundle and Services.bundle (backed-up first) and that didn't do anything either. Restored the backed-up version, still nothing.
If I "inspect element" in chrome for the Movies icons, this is what I'm seeing for example:
<img class="poster section-poster custom-section-poster" src="blob:http%3A//192.168.1.12%3A32400/f0a4e7ce-3ff7-4994-b687-80e3f50eb67f">
I'm honestly not sure what else to do to get the icons back....
If no temp transcode directory is specified, what folder does Plex use?
I presume it will work out of /tmp, but I can't confirm.
I'm asking because I notice my root partition is filling up and I can't seem to find where files are getting generated. I've since specified a transcode folder on a larger partition, but I'd like to clean up the mess.
Debian - Doesn't See Some TV Shows or Seasons
i'm running jessie with a 16tb (available) RAID array. i'm trying to massage my media collection into something that PMS will serve, and i'm having mixed success and have no clue what's wrong. the long and short is, it's picking up some shows but not others, and of the shows it sees, it's picking up some seasons but not others.
it doesn't seem to matter if i did the filenames manually, or if i used FileBot to do them.
examples:
it sees 24 (of 27) seasons of Doctor Who (1963); but only three (of 10) seasons of Doctor Who (2005).
it sees 4 seasons of Star Trek: Enterprise, but none of TOS, TNG, DSN, or Voyager.
it sees three seasons of Connections, but none of The Day The Universe Changed.
i don't understand what's going on and the usual "name it properly" doesn't apply here.
can someone please provide pointers?
Plex Showing The Same File Twice
Recently my Plex Server has started to show two versions of the same TV episodes recently downloaded. When I look at the web interface and go to properties, both versions show the exact same file path and name. I recently updated to version 1.4.x and now running 1.5.3.3580. Can anyone tell me why this is happening?
I use Sonarr and nzbget. nzbget is downloading to one folder then Sonarr picks it up, renames and moves it to the folder Plex is monitoring and then sends a notification to Plex to update the library.
Plex is failing to get metadata for certain series
Hello,
since removing and re-creating a library no metadata were found for certain series. If found some topics in the forum which describes the same issue, but the solution I found isn't working for me: https://forums.plex.tv/topic/54524-tv-show-episode-metadata-problems/#entry335624
I have the issue just with The Blacklist, Two and a half Men, Weeds and White Collar:

RPi: Plex Server running, but cannot access it
I just installed Plex on my raspberry pi. I have been trying to access it through the web browser. using this address http://192.168.1.21:32400/web
. The IP address being the address of my rasp pi. I am using the latest Jessie distro. I tried several thing with no luck
pi@raspberrypi:~ $ sudo service plexmediaserver start
pi@raspberrypi:~ $ sudo service plexmediaserver status

I tried to see if the plex is using the port.
pi@raspberrypi:~ $ sudo netstat -lntp | grep -i plex
pi@raspberrypi:~ $
netstat returned nothing. I assume that plex is not using any ports.
I also tried this from my research online:
pi@raspberrypi:~ $ sudo bash /usr/lib/plexmediaserver/start.sh
bash: /usr/lib/plexmediaserver/start.sh: No such file or directory
pi@raspberrypi:~ $
Not sure what that means or how to fix it.
I am not a linux guru. I am a super novice user so I am not sure how to troubleshoot this. Any suggestions on how to get the Plex service to use the port? Or how to get it to work right?
